I am Tom Fortmuller, a follower of my God and Savior, Jesus Christ, and the man behind the curtain website Beyond Emmaus. I enjoy the wonders of theology and the beauty of Christ-centered music, and I mainly write about those topics here.
The inspiration for my writing here comes from the story of the two disciples who were walking along the Emmaus road after Jesus had been resurrected but before he had revealed himself to many people. It has always struck a chord with me ever since I first read it a number of years ago. It can be found in the middle of Luke 24 (but go ahead and read the whole chapter… it’s very exciting!).
Just like he did with those two disciples, Jesus is still opening hearts and minds to understand the mystery and splendor and holiness of God through the pages of Scripture. My heart burns within me with deep yearning whenever I study his Word. My goal here is to ignite the same passion in your soul to see and personally know this God who dwelt among us two-thousand years ago and who now dwells within us who believe him.
